Many campers have already come across the term “crash sensor” in connection with operating the gas system. If you want to draw gas from the connected gas cylinder while driving your leisure vehicle, you need this crash sensor from GOK, among other things. In this article we clarify the most important questions relating to safety device and explain how it works.
Do you want to use the gas system of your motor caravan or caravan while driving? Particularly when the temperatures drop, it’s very comfortable to crank up the gas heating on the journey so that you have a pre-heated living space when you arrive at your destination. Operation while driving is permitted, but only if certain technical requirements are met, the key words: Crash sensor and excess flow device!
The gas test specifically for motor caravan owners is causing a bit of a splash at the moment. The reason for this is the new guideline for the main inspection (known in Germany as the “HU”) of camping vehicles, passed by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). Does this now mean that the gas systems in motor caravans are no longer part of the inspection? And what happens with caravans? We at GOK can clear things up in this article.
A known problem for campers: The gas cylinders are empty rather quickly and the replacement process is cumbersome and eats into your leisure time. Many people therefore have a permanently installed LPG tank retrofitted for the motor caravan. Wearing parts of the gas system in motor caravans or caravans must be replaced by the camper after ten years from the date of manufacture at the latest. These include, in particular, gas pressure regulators or changeover valves. In existing systems, you often find designations on the components such as DuoControl or DuoComfort.
