How do I find a specialist according to G 607 or G 608 for the gas test?
Upcoming gas test at your caravan or motor caravan? Or have you made a major change to the LPG system of your boat? Does this change the condition of the system or have you replaced the gas equipment, for example? In such cases, you will need a specialist to check the system on the leisure vehicle. Only: Where can you find one in this environment?
LPG is very popular both in leisure vehicles on land and on water. For example, it is used as an energy source for gas heaters, gas barbecues or gas stoves. In order to take into account the necessary safety ideas, caravan users, campers, boat owners, etc. must put their vehicles through determined inspections. The circumstances for the test are set out in the respective regulations.
Technical Rules
Worksheet G 607 (A) of the DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) defines rules which apply to LPG systems for caravans and motor caravans. The inspection must be carried out before the first start-up, the repeat inspection before 24 months have elapsed and another inspection after any change.
For boats and vessels, worksheet G 608 (A) defines the rules. The occasions for testing the LPG system are the same as for caravans and motor caravans: Start-up, repeat and change.
How to find a specialist?
Basically, there are very simple ways to find a specialist for your leisure vehicle: online, via your workshop, specialist retailer and directly on site at the campsite or at the port.
There are now some directories and portals for the inspection according to G 607. There, the appropriate specialist is saved and you can find out which tester is closest to you using a location search. We know of the following possibilities for research online:
- DVFG – https://gaspruefung-wohnwagen-wohnmobile.de/
- KÜS – https://www.kues-fahrzeugueberwachung.de/standortsuche
- ZKF – http://g607.de/liste/
So far, we only know of one appropriate portal for boats:
If you are familiar with other portals, whether for the test according to G 607 or to G 608, please contact us by email and we will be happy to add them to the list.
Non-digital sources
Even if the Internet is advancing unstoppably, there are still non-digital ways to find contact addresses. Simply ask the campsite operator, staff at your workshop or at the specialist retailer, when you can contact a specialist the next time or whether they can provide you with a contact address.
Often you will find a notice about the next date that an expert is on site, for example, at the information points at the campsite.
The situation in the port or marina is similar. The operator is sure to know when the expert according to G 608 is on site next time or that information will be available somewhere on site.
