What has changed in the filter cup for the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter in 2022?
The Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter is used in the (motor) caravan cylinder case and sits between the gas hose and the pressure reducer or control device. And almost every camper knows it: there’s not much room in the cylinder case and every millimetre of space is valuable. Among other things, this encouraged GOK to develop a shorter filter cup for the gas filter.
Why a gas filter?
First of all, GOK does not stipulate that you must have a gas filter for the systems! Nevertheless, we recommend the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter. It has been shown de facto that contamination and impurities in the gas system lead to malfunctions or even defects in the control device or consumer equipment such as your gas heating or gas hob.
The best way to prevent this contamination and these impurities is to filter them out of the pipe system. This prevents them from causing any harm. The Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter takes on this function and filters the vast majority of aerosols, waste steam residues or particles.
Specific change and advantage
Compared to the old one, the newly developed filter cup is shorter by almost two centimetres (18.5 millimetres). This may not seem like much at first glance, but it is often these crucial centimetres that are missing in tight installation situations.
The resulting advantage is clear: on the one hand, the centimetres gained create more space in the cylinder case during the installation itself, for instance. On the other hand, these centimetres may permit installation in the first place.
When will the change happen?
Since the beginning of 2022, GOK has been supplying the short filter cups to its retail partners. It is therefore to be assumed that campers will only receive the individual products and product sets with a shorter filter cup for the 2022 season.
If you want to be sure that you also get the short filter cup, ask your dealer – online or in store – for further information. However, this only applies to the current season; in 2023, the question is surely superfluous.

Systems and sets
Generally speaking, the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter is only used for control devices or pressure reducers that are mounted on the wall. No gas filter is required for all regulators that are fitted directly to the gas cylinder.
Retrofitting an existing system
Anyone who has already installed a system with a wall-mounted control device or pressure reducer can simply retrofit the gas filter. The ConnectClean gas filter is available as a single product for single-cylinder systems, but also in a double pack for two-cylinder systems. In most cases, retrofitting is possible without any problems, whether you have a system for heating while driving or in classic stationary operation.
New system installation
If you are planning to install the gas system for the first time, or renovate the gas system on your motor caravan or caravan, it’s probably worth looking at the sets for operating the gas system even while driving. GOK offers complete sets for both single-cylinder systems and two-cylinder systems, consisting of:
- Pressure control system including crash sensor
- High pressure hose including excess flow device
- Gas filter
The two gas hoses and gas filters are of course included in the set, if campers opt for a two-cylinder system.
